Mixed Media layers are used in the construction of the “Narrowed” painting series. First, images of cut or ripped tests pages and answer forms are applied to the canvas. Next the test materials are visually obscured by an application of oil stains. Often at this point, relevant research, media statements or student responses are included across the canvas only to be dissolved by the narrowed faces of adolescence.
